Dentists are trained to use a variety of different tools in the care of treatment of their patient’s teeth. Perhaps the most important of these tools is the dentist’s own talent for manual dexterity, which is the ability to skillfully and adroitly use the hands and fingers. Dentists must be able to accurately manipulate their fingers – and the instruments and tools held in their hands – while working inside a patient’s mouth. Often they do not have the luxury of space, and they also have to be able to see with the help of mirrors. Imagine trying to thread a needle with your hands inside a cereal box, using nothing but the reflection from a small hand-held mirror to help guide your procedure. That gives you some idea of how dentists work, and helps to underscore the importance of natural tools like hands, fingers, and manual dexterity.

Dental mirrors are a major tool in dentistry, and so are bright lights. We often overlook these very simple tools, but without them the dentist would literally be in the dark and unable to see what he or she was doing inside the cavern of the mouth. Dentists use a variety of different mirrors and high intensity lamps as an integral part of their toolkit. They also use safety tools, to protect their own health and the health of their clients. These include eye protection and latex gloves, plus newer dental dams which were introduced within the past 10-15 years in all dentist offices. The dental dam is a rubber device fitted over the patient’s mouth, and it helps to protect transmission of disease through contact with blood when the dentist is performing a surgical procedure.

The tools more commonly associated with dentistry are, of course, those that include drills, hypodermic needles, picks, and scrapers. Anytime a dentist needs to administer medicine or painkiller with an injection he or she uses a typical hypodermic needle. When drilling is required – because the teeth are the hardest substance in the human body – high speed drills that are specially designed to fit into small places are used. Lots of scissors of various shapes and sizes are used during dental surgery to cut gums or nerves, and other tools are used to clean out crevices in the teeth or gums and remove harmful infections and bacteria.

An excavator – which is like a tiny spoon – is one of these tools used to remove decay. Once the cavity is cleared and cleaned, the dentist will use an “amalgam plugger” device to push the new filling into place. Dentists also use instruments called “curettes” to poke around the gum line and check for disease. They use “scaler” tools to scrape away plaque and debris that may have accumulated on the surface of the tooth, and of course one of the most important tools in the dental office is the toothbrush. Dentists use high-tech electric toothbrushes to clean and polish the surface of the teeth and give us brighter and whiter smiles.

Kidney Transplant Surgery In India

Â

Kidney TransplantÂ

Kidney transplantation is the best way to treat kidney failure or end-stage renal disease (ESRD). The benefits of a successful kidney transplant are many. Most people find they have increased stamina and energy. They can return to a more normal lifestyle, and those who were dependent upon dialysis can enjoy newfound freedom….

Â

Where does a kidney come from ?

Kidneys for transplantation come from two different sources – living donors, or non-living (cadaveric) donors. Living donors are usually immediate family members or sometimes spouses. Cadaver kidneys are obtained from persons who have willed their kidneys before their death….

Â

How is the right kidney found for me ?

Determining in advance whether a donated kidney is likely to be tolerated by your body is crucial to the success of your transplant. It is essential that your blood type and the donor’s blood type – whether Type A, B, AB, or O – be compatible…..

Â

The Kidney Transplant Procedure

Kidney transplantation involves placing a healthy kidney into the body where it can perform all of the functions that a failing kidney cannot. In most cases, the diseased kidneys, located in the back area, remain undisturbed. The new kidney is positioned in the pelvic area where it is surgically connected to nearby blood vessels…..

Â

Where does your new kidney come from ?

Kidneys for transplantation come from two sources: living donors and deceased (non-living) donors. Living donors are usually immediate family members or sometimes spouses. Deceased donor kidneys usually come from people who have willed their…..

Â

What happens during the kidney transplant procedure ?

Kidney transplantation involves placing a healthy kidney into the body where it can perform all of the functions that a failing kidney cannot.

The new kidney is placed on the lower right or left side of your abdomen where it is surgically connected to nearby blood vessels……

Â

What happens to my old kidneys ?

In most cases, the diseased kidneys are not removed. There are three conditions that might require your diseased kidneys to be removed:

Repeated infection that could spread to the transplanted kidney Uncontrollable hypertension caused by your original kidneys Backup of urine into your kidneys (a condition called reflux)……

Â

What are the benefits of kidney transplantation ?

A successful kidney transplant gives you increased strength, stamina, and energy. After transplantation, you should be able to return to a more normal lifestyle and have more control over your daily living. You can have a normal diet and more normal fluid intake…….

Â

What are the risks of kidney transplantation ?

The risks of kidney transplantation are the same as those of any surgery. There is the risk of bleeding, infection, or breathing problems. You also might experience some side effects from the medications, and you could be more prone to infections, since the medicine you will take after transplantation lowers your body’s ability to fight infection……

Â

Live Donor Liver Transplant – Laparoscopic Nephrectomy

There is an ever-increasing demand for living kidney donors. Until recently, kidney donation from a living donor could only be accomplished through a surgical procedure called open nephrectomy (kidney removal). This procedure requires a large, muscle-cutting abdominal incision, removal of a rib and a relatively longer hospital stay and recovery period…….

Â

What are the advantages of laparoscopic donor nephrectomy ?

Because laparoscopic donor nephrectomy is a minimally invasive procedure, donor patients experience significantly less discomfort, have a shorter recovery period and return to work quicker than a donor who has had traditional open surgery……

Â

Who is a candidate for laparoscopic donor nephrectomy ?

Most people who are eligible for open nephrectomy are also eligible for laparoscopic nephrectomy. However, you may not qualify for the procedure if:

You have had multiple previous abdominal surgeries You are significantly overweight There is abnormal anatomy of the kidney…….

Â

Pre-transplant donor evaluation

The pre-transplant donor evaluation provides complete information about your overall health and helps to identify any potential problems. During your evaluation you will have several tests performed, including a renal arteriogram, which examines the vascular system of the kidneys. There also will be several additional tests to make sure you are physically ready for the surgery……

Â

During the surgery

The surgeon will insert a small needle into your abdominal cavity. The needle is connected to sterile tubing. Through the tubing, carbon dioxide is passed into the abdominal cavity to lift the abdominal wall away from the organs below. This space provides your surgeon with an excellent view and more operating space…….

Â

Incision care

Your incisions will be covered with small pieces of tape (called steri-strips) that will gradually fall off on their own. If the strips do not fall off on their own, your health care provider will remove them at your 2-week follow-up appointment……

Â

Follow-up appointment

A follow-up appointment will be scheduled about 2 weeks after your surgery. Your surgeon will assess the wound site and your recovery, and will provide further guidelines about your activity and diet at this time……

Â

Where can my family wait during my surgery ?

Family members and friends are invited to wait for you in the Family Waiting Lounge. This waiting area has a play room for small children, a television, reading materials and comfortable chairs……

Kidney Transplant

Kidney transplantation is the best way to treat kidney failure or end-stage renal disease (ESRD). The benefits of a successful kidney transplant are many. Most people find they have increased stamina and energy. They can return to a more normal lifestyle, and those who were dependent upon dialysis can enjoy newfound freedom….

Â

Where does a kidney come from ?

IDD Therapy in Atlanta is used predominantly for treating bulging and herniated discs in the lumbar and cervical regions of the spine. At one time known as slipped discs, the term is very misleading since the disc has not slipped, being firmly attached to the spine.

The correct terms are either a herniated disc, where the disc has burst and the spongy gel inside protrudes from between the vertebrae, or the fibrous sheath of the disc has lost strength and the inside has bulged, though not actually been forced out of the disc. In either case, the result is very painful, particularly when pressure is applied to the spinal nerves.

The function of the disc is to act as a shock absorber between vertebrae, and when this property is comprised then movement can be severely curtailed. The condition can also cause inflammation of the facet joints that connect the vertebrae in such a way as to allow you to bend backwards and forward. These are cartilage joints protected by lubricating synovial fluid, roughly like your knee joints, but much smaller of course. When inflamed, the synovial fluid can also cause pain and restrict your movement.

Although back pain is one of the major reasons for lost working hours in the USA, it has not had a good history of cure, most being only partially successful at best. Here are some of the methods used other than IDD Therapy in Atlanta for treating back pain.

Non-Invasive: Spinal Traction

In spinal traction the top half and bottom half of the body are basically pulled away from each other to pull the vertebrae apart. By use of suitable braces traction can be directed to the cervical or to the lumbar vertebrae, but not individual vertebrae. Traction releases the pressure of the vertebrae on the discs and allows them to expand and relieve the pressure of a bulged or herniated disc against the nerves. It can sometimes be effective, but can also be uncomfortable and has been largely superseded by those below for the treatment of individual discs.

Surgery: Spinal Fusion

In spinal fusion, the disc is removed completely, and the bones above and below its position fused together. Because one disc is now missing, it is possible for other healthy discs to experience more pressure and eventually give way. Many such cases need further surgery later in life.

Heat Treatment: Intra-Discal Electrothermoplasty

IDET involves using X-rays to guide a hollow needle into the damaged disc. A resistance wire is then threaded through the needle and heated to destroy any nerve fibers that have formed in the disc. It is also used to melt the outer wall of the disc to initiate the formation of new protein that strengthens it. Treatment can take several months, but even then the success rate varies from about 25 up to 60% depending upon the degree of damage.

Radiofrequency Treatment: Radiofrequency Discal Nucleoplasty

Also known as Coblation Nucleoplasty RDN again involves the needle, but rather than a wire, a radiofrequency probe is inserted through it. This generates a plasma field that vaporizes part of the nucleus pulposus, thus releasing some of the pressure within the disc and on the nerves. It is very useful for bulging discs that cause sciatic pain by pressing against the nerve.

IDD Therapy: Intervertebral Differential Dynamics

IDD Therapy in Atlanta is applied by means of the Spina System IDD® and is designed to decompress the space between the vertebrae so that a vacuum is generated in the disc, much in the same way that a vacuum is generated in an opening bellows. With the bellows, it draws in air, but with the disc, it draws in water, oxygen and nutrients that allow healing to take place.

It is a computer-controlled system, programmed to meet the needs of each individual patient. Individual discs can be targeted and around 20 – 30 courses of treatment over an average of 5 weeks are needed. That is because each treatment period of about 40 minutes results in progressively more healing until the disc is eventually completely healed, and the patient can live a normal pain-free life again. The success rate is higher than 85%.

The application of the IDD system involves a mild pumping action that creates the pressure differential of the discs, and so causes the discs to expand and suck in the oxygen and water needed to revitalize the pulposus and strengthen the annulus. It also affects the facet joints in a similar way – these are the cartilaginous synovially lubricated joints that enable you to bend backwards and forwards. Problems with these can also be treated using IDD Therapy in Atlanta, and frequently just repairing the disc is sufficient to provide relief from facet joint pain. Of all these optional methods of treatment, IDD Therapy in Atlanta is the preferred method because of its non-invasive nature and its high success rate.

This is very easy and quick cross stitch embroidered bookmarks project. You can make a book mark for your own or you can make many of them to give as gift or stocking stuffers. You have to follow some easy instructions and you should have those required skills.

First of all purchase an Aida fabric book mark. These blanks come with either plane or lacy borders, and they are made especially for cross stitch and embroidery. Then choose a design for your bookmark, you can choose custom design made by you or you can choose from hundreds of artistic designs available on the internet. Try to find the designs that fit in with gift giving occasions if the bookmark is a gift.

You can easily get lots of cross stitch designs and charts on the web. Keeping a simple design is advised. The amount of usable space should be small and avoid crowding your design with lots of elements. In this way you can easily make embroidered bookmarks which will take very little space. You should also make sure that your design must fit onto bookmark.

Embroidery floss and embroidery needle should be used for your project to complete your embroidered bookmarks. You can choose colors you like, if you are unhappy with the suggested colors given by pattern book or a chart. You can reduce or enlarge the design as per your need, by transferring the design onto your bookmark.

You can refer to various instructions for designing the bookmark. Then you should start cross stitching from the center of the design outward. You must keep your stitches neat and clean, and after the completion of the work trim all the excess threads. And, remember that your work should be visible on the front as well as back side of the bookmark.

You can also try making machine embroidered bookmarks. In this select your embroidery pattern or otherwise you can try it from various sites online. You have to cut the embroidered bookmark from the fabric. In addition to that you have to be very careful in cutting threads and stitches.

You can also apply fabric glue with the help of your fingertips. This is an optional step and will prevent unraveling. Tear away the stabilizer and iron, if you do not use self adhesive. Follow the manufacturer’s instructions while using the stabilizer, iron or pin. You can easily make cross stitch and machinery bookmark if you follow all the above instructions carefully.

While making these embroidered bookmarks you can look for cross stitch kits, which provide needle, bookmark and embroidery floss. Some instructions come with the kit and you must follow them. You can also use a charted cross stitch fabric for your bookmark design.

The structure of the Aida fabric and size of the design make use of the embroidery hoop or frame unnecessary. These simple instructions will really prove helpful in your task of bookmark making and you will gain some extra knowledge regarding the same.

In the world of plants, an evergreen tree is one which has leaves all year round. This is different from deciduous plants which completely lose their leaves during autumn and winter. With evergreen trees, the same leaf does not persist all year round but the constant growth of new leaves quickly replaces the shed leaves. There are some exceptions to this rule, for example- the Welwitschia which produces two different types of leaves will grow continuously for 20-40 years.

There are hundreds of evergreen trees and shrubs and mist can be bought from a nursery. The common evergreens include confiners, pine, red cedar, blue spruce, hemlock, holly, cyads and most angiosperms.

The majority of plants in the tropics are evergreens which replace the leaves gradually over the year as they age and fall off. However, in colder weather or cooler climates, deciduous trees predominate chiefly due to an adaptation to the weather. In cooler climates, the majority of evergreens are conifers and some broad leaf plants. If you are not sure what to buy, talk to a person in a nursery.

In most cases, evergreens are hardier plants and can grow in areas where the soil is not so nutritious. The conditions that favor growth of evergreens usually are made difficult for deciduous trees to survive.

Before one buys an evergreen there are some facts that one has to know. These include:
Most evergreen do require a lot of sun to grow well, some will tolerate partial shade but growth will be delayed
Before selecting an evergreen, make sure you have a wide open area as these trees do grow large. One should also know the soil conditions and the year round weather.

While some evergreens can tolerate drought for a long time, this is not a universal finding. Some do require a lot of water. So ask the nursery personnel what is the tree you should buy if your soil is dry.

Adding mulch to soil is a must when growing evergreens

During the dry season or when it is very windy, evergreens usually require lot more water than usual- this is usually winter and early spring.

Another favorite evergreen tree of mine is the leyland cypress trees. Its beautiful foliage and sledner dark green appearance makes it a beautiful choice Nursery experts recommend that the narrow leaf evergreen (conifer) is the ideal tree for most landscapes. This tree provides great colors and texture all year around. Plus, conifer trees are durable and very versatile. These trees can be used to make a hedge, fence, create a privacy screen and as a wind breaker on the north side.

While evergreens do retain their foliage throughout winter they not always retain their needles. In most cases needles do drop every 2-6 years but this depends on the plant species.

Once an evergreen is selected, check the soil for drainage before planting. One should have ample space both laterally and above. The evergreen should not normally be grown in small alleys as it will quickly overcrowd the lanes. If you have limited space, consider the dwarf confers.

Before any planting is done, one should ensure that there are no overhead utility wires and that the soil has been prepared with compost or mulch.

To add variety one can add several kinds of evergreens to the landscape. What may seem obvious is not always practiced. Never plants trees with different water needs in the same area. Evergreens that need less moisture are best suited for the slopes. If in doubt always add more water when there is wind or the soil is dry.for noise reduction, privacy hedges and for looks in general.
